Interesting proposition - a Sierra Foothills Pinot. Curious enough to buy a bottle. Bricking garnet. Aged aromatics; more herbal than fruit. Nice, saline-driven entry and more of the herbal, wild mushroom in the mid-palate. Funky, though not offensive acidity, in the medium-long finish. Far from horrible but not nearly a must try…especially at the mid-$40 price point.

Drank over 3 days. Black cherry and vanilla. A bit clumsy right out of the bottle but with some air it gets back on track. It could be lighter but that’s not a serious issue. I think this could still hold for a couple years.

Second bottle I’ve had since my last tasting note in April. Notes would be duplicitous but I now think this is missing something. Needs more acid I think. Could be brighter perhaps? Certainly a friendly wine but I want it to be more cerebral.
Medium light garnet. Nose of sweet cherries, cola, vanilla, baking spices, and a bit of mushroom. Light bodied, medium high acidity, dry, and balanced. Palate is cherries, cranberries, a bit of strawberries. Light well integrated tannins bring a medium long spicy finish of tart cherries, herbal spices, black pepper, and a bit of star anise.
A bit less complex than the 2013, but still very enjoyable.
