  • Very mineral, waxy, and far off into its own place. Reminding me of Cordieu (sp?) although I have not had many of those. Frankly, I think it is collapsing in on itself at this point. But what a fun collapse it is. Enjoy the ride and drink up is what I say.

O.k., after reading the note below I feel the need to add that this is my second bottle of this wine. The first I had years ago when it was so hair-spray viognier like (full bore fruit and incredibly floral) that I never came back to it and forgot it was in my cellar. Now, it has calm down -- to the point of falling apart -- and may be more enjoyable. But, in retrospect, when I finish that first bottle in '07 I certainly didn't regret opening it.

  • Yet another iffy example of domestic viognier... I was told this was "as close to Condrieu as it gets" and proceeded to laugh the night away with my partner in wine for the evening at this watery, bitter, metallic white. A few redeeming qualities like a sauvignon-blanc like citrus "freshness" that I admit was there. Searingly acidic with a tinniness and unripe pineapple element. Condrieu, yeah right!
