  This was my son in law's collection and may not have been stored properly. Considering this Merlot was 8 years old I didn't think it was going to be good. As it turned out the wine poured a medium deep red with a brown tinge. Aroma/bouquet was characteristic of a merlot and it was mellow, slightly lemony. Tasted ok with small amount of heat, which surprised me. Cherry - some jammy flavor. As it sat in the glass I noticed some developing off flavor. Probably should have been opened a couple of years ago. Next day update - had another glass on the day after opening and it is dying a slow death. Slight off flavor is now beoming a significant off flavor. Will likely dump the rest out.
