Entry level wine from a highly regarded producer of California Pinot Noir. Atypical for the Golden State. Light red and transparent. Not over extracted, I assume these grapes were picked young. Nice Pinot nose. Palate dominated by stemmy green tannins and perhaps too much acidity. Hopefully time will provide better balance, and the fruit will show up. I get the impression that the wine maker tried to make Burgundy in an unwilling climate. Addendum: On day 3 this wine undergoes a significant transformation. Fruit appears to balance the tannin and acidity. Now rates a 92 in my book. Very Burgundian (successfully) in style. Built for aging. Suggest long decant if you wish to drink now. .

Pretty ruby. Aromatic and elegant. Red cherry, tea, spice, nice acidity, fresh and open. Might improve, but good now.
