while it had some elegance and refinement, it need more of both given the price point. felt like some flavor and structural complexity was missing. still young, but drinkable. felt more medium bodied to me. don't think I enjoyed it as much as I did at the wine tasting where it first impressed me and lived up to the price point...most of the Tuck Beckstoffer wines I got from that wine tasting did not taste as well later...perhaps my palate was fatigued back then or the flaws were more apparent in a full glass.

Dark and dense, very opaque inky color, with chalky minerality on the back palate, this is a very intensely extracted Cabernet. Pair this off with a steak for full effect!
Second winery on our third day in Napa Valley is Tuck Beckstoffer Wines located at the old Dancing Hares property in St. Helena and hosted by Jessica. Third wine was their Tuck Beckstoffer Mockingbird Red with majority of the fruit from the Oakville Ranch and some from the old Dancing Hares Vineyard. Made by Andy Erickson and consultant, Philippe Melka and a touch of Michel Rolland. Made up of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc.
Deep and dark purplish ruby red. Big and lush nose with cinnamon, nutmeg, anise, blueberries and brown sugar. Medium plus tannins (7.5/10) with solid acidity and full bodied. Plush palate with dark black and blue fruits, cassis as well as some cinnamon and more baking spices. Drink till 2034.

Smells overripe, but it’s neatly balanced with good acidity and enough tannic zip to hold the ample fruit in check. A pleasant surprise.
