  • Deep, only very lightly translucent dark cherry color. Somewhat pungent and reductive nose with aromas of acrid smoke, peppery spice, some cherry-driven red fruit and a little alcohol. Medium-bodied and quite lively on the palate with flavors of sour cherries, tart dark berries, peppery spice and some alcohol heat. Surprisingly high in acidity with moderate tannins. The finish is much sweeter and more round than the midpalate with flavors of ripe red cherries, juicy blackberries, some peppery spice and a hint of sour cherry bitterness. Alcohol gives the aftertaste some warmth.

A surprisingly bright and structured effort for a Chilean red wine. This is even more positive surprise as this is a Santa Helena wine - the first wine by this winery that feels actually drinkable! Although the wine is rather simple and straightforward and shows a bit too much alcohol, it is still a surprisingly well-made effort that combines nicely sweeter crowdpleasing fruit to more brighter and structured core. Good value at only 8,99€. A reliable budget wine for the fans of new world wines.
