H-o-l-y sh*t. I mean, wow. I was not expecting this wine to blow me away. The level of depth, the nose was so clean and so full of pure cassis, black cherry, black tea, cinnamon, cocoa, and rich cedar.
The palate follow the nose, but with a surge of acid, an unexpected tidal wave of spice and saliva came my way. This was so fu**ing layered. Like a world-class card dealer laying out your hand of tasting notes.
It rides so gracefully through the front, taking a deep dive into the palate in the middle. The mid is intense, slaps of spice and acid coming through with finesse to boot. The sly, smooth, nature of this wine defies gravitie without losing density. It slides into a finish that lasts more than a minute with this his sort of "lacquered" situation that happens with fine wines. Goddamn. This is so unbelievable ready to drink it's ridiculous.
97 points, drink now through 2027.

Very big and fairly young wine. Big fruit up front. Dense and layered mid pallette. Super balanced and very pleasing overall. PWould love to try this again in 5 plus years.

A very incredible wine from a newer producer in Davis that I have only recently visited for the first time. I have been a long time fan of Phillipe Melka’s wines and this does not disappoint. It is still young and slightly fruit forward, but perfectly balanced tannins and velvety and silky smoothness. On the nose, it reminded me of a classic BV Georges and the mid-palate had lots of dark red fruits. The finish was rather long with the fruit lingering on the palate

Should continue to improve with age. Long finish. Drinkable now. Would decant this for at least an hour before serving
