After really enjoying a 2003 Brave Oak Vineyard last night I decided to open one of these tonight. It's even better than the Brave Oak last night. A little more youthful and just incredibly tasty, intense wine. I have never particularly been a big fan of Syrah . . . but I could drink a ton of this stuff and really like it.

Some Syrahs on a Saturday afternoon (Loretta Paganini School fo Cooking): Classic Clos Mimi wine. Not for everyone. Inky purple in color. Black raspberries, black licorice and pepper on the nose. There is a strong backbone on acidity. This still drinks young on the palate. Lush, intense black raspberry fruit along with a broad streak of black raspberry as well. Some found it too acidic others too flat. Wild ride as always.

Too much acidity for me here. Cranberry tart and while the wine fleshed out and picked up some fruit weight as it sat in the decanter, it still could not match the acids.

Wally's Central Coast Tasting: Great pinot nose; Very fruity; One dimensional; Lacking depth
