  • Further to my Note of June 24, '19: Consistent notes, though enjoyed more fruit with this one, albeit very mature. Good with savory food. Still notable with no reason to wait longer.

  • Bought 6b from WinEx for 20/b 12 years ago. Decanted with heavy sediment for its age. Dark ruby, almost opaque; some leather and tea, muted red fruit, some of initial funk blew off; with reduced funk, some rich mature fruit but past peak, still enjoyable. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this notable when considering quality, age, and price.

  • Certainly not the 96 it was. Still very good, yet needs 4-8 hrs to open. still bold, with lots of plum and deep cherry and a smooth finish, yet it has passed its peak :-(. Drink it now before it's too late

  • A big and burly wine with unabashed modern winemaking. Full nose has sweet red cherries, a mild green herbal streak, spice and toasty american oak notes. Rich and unctuous palate with loads of barrel spice and cherries. Low acidity. Layers of cherry fruit and traces of tempranillo character. Holding up, but there is no depth or complexity one would expect with 10+ years of bottle age. Solid, though the overt winemaking style hasn't helped matters here.

  • sad to say this was my last bottle and once again it was awesome relative to all the others consumed tonight, terrific age to drink, fruit forward, really nice spanish wine

(CENIT) Spain Dear Friends, ...a few more noteworthy wines from Iberia while I am in the air. I will let you figure out how I just sent this from 38,000 ft (it has something to do with GSM and satellites)... 2004 Vinas del Cenit (Vino de la Tierra de Zamora) STRICT LIMIT 24/person From the top 2004 vintage, here is a wine a number of you have asked for so here it is - with perfect provenance at an eye-opening price: 2002 Bodegas Alto Moncayo "Aquilon" (Aragon) EXTREMELY LIMITED This is another wine I've had a lot of requests for and while I wouldn't be able to stomach it, my job is to provide you with the lowest prices and the finest provenance. I offer plenty of high-acid/no fruit wine all year (that many of you can't stomach) so turn-about is fair play... 2003 Benjamin Romeo "La Vina Andres" (Rioja) EXTREMELY LIMITED 200 bottles for the entire US and I actually could stomach this - in fact it's serious wine. Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Spain9210 Spain9220 Spain9230
