Better with a 2 hour decant, but this one really put the exclamation mark on dinner. This one didn't even make it to the END of dinner. The nose on this has just about everything: Raspberry, black cherry, herbs, spiciness, even some grilled meat influence. The entry of this wine is darker, more of a black cherry, blackberry and some dark chocolate notes, with some pecan, hint of black licorice and spice. The herbal influence really kicked in towards the finish where a black pepper and mixed black fruit pie sweetness and toasted oak tannic influence brought this one home. I think the best years for this wine as a pop and pour is going to be from about 2024-2027, but certainly a very impressive wine now and will be an impressive wine in a decade. Would really like to acquire a bit more of this.

The nose is a bit shy. But, reveals, ripe; black plum, dark cherries, blackberries & black raspberries. Soft, beautiful well done baking spices, light spices, dark & milk chocolate, black licorice, touch of lavender and fresh dark floral bouquet.
The body is full and elegant. Beautiful mouthfeel. Black raspberries, blackberries, black plum, dark cherries, strawberries, soft, beautiful well done baking spices, light spices, dark & milk chocolate, black licorice, touch of lavender and fresh dark floral bouquet. Perfect acidity and a well balanced elegant, ruby fruit finish that lasts minutes.

Second stop on our eighth day in Napa Valley is to Wheeler Farms where we tasted wines from Wheeler Farms, Tor Kenward, Arrow and Branch, and Vice Versa. Fourth wine is from Wheeler Farms and it is their Cabernet Sauvignon. This is made up of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and the rest made up of Petit Verdot and Malbec. Aged for 20 months in 100% new French oak barrels.
Deep and dark purplish ruby red. Dark baking spices on the nose with cassis and red currants. Medium plus tannins (7/10) and full bodied. Quite a bit of earthiness on the palate with a dusty texture, some baking spices, bark and red cherries. Very dry and long finish. Drink till 2030. (93+)
