Very raisin with slight honeysuckle. Somewhat port-like but with white grapes instead of red. Good by itself but tried mixing with a dessert zinfandel which ended up being quite amazing together.

As 98% of the island of Samos is covered with the Muscat grape and the Union of Vinicultural Cooperatives Samos (EOSS) is the only winemaking body, they have a peculiar method to classify the grapes sourced from 2,800 different growers: the average altitude of the vineyards.
The Anthemis is the aged version of the Vin Doux for which the fermentation is stopped right away by the addition of ethylic alcohol. The wine is aged for five years in French barrels. The resulting wine has 15% alcohol, 4,65 gr/lt of total acidity (tartaric), 200 gr/lt of residual sugar and a pH of 3,55.
Dark amber in colour. Caramel and honey out front along with raisins and undertones of dried apricot. Quite unctuous and sweet yet lifted only with difficulty.

Nutty nose delivering burnt sugar and caramelized walnuts. Rich, unctuous and full on the palate with barely balancing acidity.
