  • Blinded. First thing I noticed was the non fruit aromas - flint, rubber. Then white flowers, lemon, pear, green apple, peach, spices especially white pepper. Mineral driven. Bitterness toward the end of the palate. Medium body, high acid, medium alcohol. Called 2-4 year old Alsace Riesling.

  • Well, this is of course the most simple Leitz Riesling but I wouldn't describe it as as bad as FHAYEK did. And it is usually sold for 7-8€, I paid 6€, which is a fair price.
To me it was way too sweet with 9 g/l RS. Nevertheless, you still get some hints of the Leitz typical minerality and some yellow fruits. Party wine, maybe even crowd pleaser on a hot summer day.

  • This is not the eins-zwei-dry but the 'normal' dry base riesling of his.
Scent is typical if generic Rheingau Riesling buoquet with green apples and citrus fruits.

Sadly in the mouth it turns out to be massively underripe, overacidic, and exceedingly simple. The more we drank from it, the less we liked it.

The cynic in me suggest this might be not from Leitz' own veinyards but burchased from other sources and sold under own name.

Be that as it may, this wine is surprisingly weak, with not much to like about it, and bears no resemblance whatsoever with the wines that made Leitz so popular.

10 EUR price is of course a bad joke.
