  • Considering this price point at $35, this wasn’t the worst QPR, always fun to try some older Bordeaux. This was past its prime obviously, but not in the way that the tertiary notes are taking over to make this a second level wine. It was just somewhat dead and weak on the palette. The nose gave the general earthy, pepper, graphite notes reminiscent of a Bordeaux. Great sign when I poured through the cheese cloth. I actually almost climaxed as I was smelling it, one of the best smells in this world. I wasn’t expecting a ton tbh, but in hind sight would have bought a newer vintage Lestage, which is probably cheaper and better.

  • 28 years old - would have guessed much younger. Cork broke when pulled, but wine was good. Muted fruit. Nice backbone. Drink now and enjoy a mature Bordeaux!

  • At twenty-eight years this seems to still be going strong. Displays a deep, slightly cloudy ruby core with garnet at about 50% from the edge. Aromatic and flavor profile shows: dried red flowers, spicy red currant, stewed raspberry, cooked cherry, old furniture leather, aged cigars, and decaying cedar mulch. Integrated structure, but lingers in the background to provide a basis for some possible future longevity. Complex, balanced, intense, and very lengthy. Perfect with the roasted rack of lamb. Drink now, unlikely to improve with further cellaring.

  • Drank this 21 year old Cru Bourgeois Listrac-Medoc for dinner today. Was very nice especially with Coulommiers cheese. Ruby colour, tobacco in the bouquet, well rounded wine, somewhat beyond its prime, but cellared at 12 celsius well preserved. No hurry for the remaining bottles.
