4th Saturday group uptown tasting (R&D's): Double blind. Notes of raspberry jam, black fruit and a bit of brett- a nice underlying funkiness. Well-balanced. Dark fruit on the palate. While my initial thought was Bordeaux, it was quickly evident that the fruit was too generous.

Opened 90 minutes before and decanted immediately before serving. On the nose, extremely strong raspberry jam. Slight hints of strawberry and dried flowers. Surprisingly little sense of alcohol given the 14.5% reading on the bottle. Color is extremely dark, all the way to the rim of the glass. On the palate, slight vanilla tones but mostly dominated by bright red fruit. Not as heavy as expected given the color. Drinking extremely well now, and probably for the next 2-3 years. RECOMMENDED.

Filling in w/the Friday Brown Bag Group (Rich & Dana's): Dark color. Vanilla, plum and limestone notes, developing a violet note with air. Full-bodied with firm, chalky tannins and flavors of plum, red fruit, vanilla, dark fruit and violets. 90-91 pts.

Medium dark ruby red in color, palate is a mixture of saturated black and red cherries, notes of savory herbs, some bright acidity, moderate fine tannins. There is some lushness, but nothing overripe or over the top, shows elegance and sophistication in a complete package. A beautifully made wine, probably the best example of straight Cab Franc I've had from California.

Outstanding. Continued to gain complexity in aroma and taste through the very short 90 minutes it took us to drink.
