Decanted two hours before service. In the glass, deep, opaque purplish-black. On the nose, violets, stone fruit, and a touch of cured meat. On the palate, plums, bacon, and a slight touch of floral sweetness on the mid-palate, with a moderately long finish. Not a wildly complex wine, but one perfectly enjoyable right now.

Mistakes were made. Probably hung onto this particular bottle a bit too long...I'm a relatively new collector and this was my longest held bottle at 4.5 years. Also, not enough decanting. Opened the bottle an hour early, but did not decant. It had a lot of funky olfactory noise to blow off and once it did, there was not much left worth writing about. There is a glass-worth left in the bottle two days later...maybe, maybe there's a gem there. But for now, this just gets across the "I like it" line.
