Dark red with a hue of purple and no indication of age. Tasting notes from day 2. Blackberry and plum nose with pencil lead, a little muted. Fruit holds true on the palate, with a proper peppery note. Fairly compact and clean with a slightly metallic finish. A decent example of Australian Shiraz but not up to the garden bottlings.

A great auction purchase at $25, no competition at auction for this one, a wine I've had before and enjoyed and it was even better with 6 years of age. Much smoother and flavors more integrated. Plum, blackberry, licorice, gunpowder.

Color is inky purple, almost opaque because of some haze in the wine. Mulling spice aromas jump out right away. Dense dark plum and blackberry blend with toasted oak and a touch of leathery tannins. With a hint of cayenne spice and a tongue gripping mouth feel, this one stood up great to tonight's lamb tagine.

Deep dark plum colour, clear, medium density. 3 Violets, rich berry jam, mint, pepper, complex nose 6.5 Mellow, full rich cassis flavour, nicely developed. Full bodied. Dry. Moderate acidity. Soft tannin. Good balance. Warm spirit finish. Even structure. Some spiciness at the finish. 8
