A bit stinky on opening and took a couple of hours in a decanter to get itself together. Light body, catches the light well, bricking eating well into the wine. Rose hip tea and tobacco, cherry, great acidity, good fresh finish. I thought this may have been heading downwards, but in this showing it’s got a good few years ahead, the acid will keep it going, let’s hope the fruit keeps up

Wild cherry, slight stalks, sweet spice, a little tobacco leaf. Sour red fruits, black tea but quite broad though without being overtly tannic. Compelling.

South Africa Trip October 2018; 10/3/2018-10/12/2018 (Western Cape, South Africa): all destemmed, 10 day pre ferment cold soak. 11 months in french oak barrels, 22% new. 13% light body, red fruit, red cherry and raspberry nose but not that simple, some pot pouri and fresh earth, lovely bright colour that has a little fade at the rim, very light weight but good sour cherry and spice flavours, transparent, clean and pure, quite deceiving as there's more to this wine than it looks.

South African wine tour - Day six (Hemel en Aarde Valley): Red ad black cherry and berry, earthy notes, a little forest floor as well. Initially it puts me in mind of the Eldridge Pinot which leads me to think that it has aging potential. The oak is present but integrated. On the palate it's tight but juicy and the fruit a little less overtly riper than I was expecting. There is some tannic grip on the mid palate. It's a little gamey as well and the whole travels very long. This is very good though I'd suggest extra time to come together a little more.

This was rather lovely with roast chicken; dark cherries and berries, new oak, quite rich. Nice.
