  • Allowed to breathe in glass one hour. Clear medium ruby-blood-brick red, turning salmon at the rim. Lovely bouquet of black raspberries, Chambord, cherries, dried strawberries, spice box, potpourri, animal musk, stony red soil. Similar on the palate, balanced, medium-full body, balanced, seamless, lingering finish. Made in the traditional Old World style but showing the richness and ripeness of a great vintage.

  • Tasted in double-blind fashion from a bottle provided by E.P., this deep garnet wine has a moderately intense bouquet of pomegranate, cherry, chervil, clove and earth. On the palate, it is somewhat taut and tart, with medium-weight tannins, well-integrated alcohol (13%) and flavors which mirror the nose. The middle palate is solid, while the medium-length finish concludes with an acerbic note. While certainly enjoyable, this Pinot is a bit too herbal and acidic to warrant a higher score. Drink now-2019.
