Living temporarily in a new US market for the last few weeks with limited choices for interesting wines and relatively high prices. Bought 3 half bottles for 6/hb on closeout (!) from one of the city's major retailers (independent) about 3 weeks ago; this was the last. Medium dark purple; mature plummy/grapey nose, some baking spice that follow on the palate, good mouthfeel. Overall simple, tasty. Might re-buy a few for less in my home market. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. This is notable when considering quality, age, and price in this market; notable- relative to a more competitive price.

Full bodied , typical Malbec . Full of fruit and light in tannins. Did not disappoint for the price of $11. Would buy again at this price point. Wife , who is not much of a wine drinker, likes it.

Black fruit with some smoke on it. All estate bottled and owned. And black and smokey on the palate as well. Former winemaker of Petrus consults. A bit bitter on the back end but that could be my palate being out of whack.

P: Med body; Almost swtish frt quickly met by an astringent pucker which pretty much irons itself out by the LONG, ult pleasant finish. Perhaps decanting might resolve the early/mid-P astringency for drinking now? Otherwise, cellar into '19? 13.2% ABV; 87 pts WS (9/'17). [As of late Jun '20, wine-searcher still shows 1 source @ $11.99].
