  • Interesting Vin d'Pays from Languedoc. It is a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre (35%-35%-30%). Clear, bright red in the bowl. Very Northern Rhone nose, notwithstanding the Mourvedre. Medium body. Palate has nice fruit of strawberries, plums and blackberry with some vanilla and spice. Finish is short and the acid is noticeable but not unpleasant. I have had this wine many times, and it has a good QTP ratio ($12.00) and 14% alcohol. It is also very versatile. I have had this with BBQ, burgers, pizza, spaghetti, lamb, meatloaf, etc. It will even take a chill for hot days at a cook out. This often my "house wine" when looking to just quaff with friends or when I do not want to open anything too fancy.
