  • Very complex nose with a strong mineral core, crushed dusty rock, black fruited, dark cassis and faint touch of cigar. This is so ready to drink right now and I was influenced by all the notes indicating its good to go and I emphatically agree. No noticeable tannin, bug scaled, layers of flavor. Just a joy to drink. I have a mag left and its going to be hard to keep my hands off.

  • Dark ruby fruit - blackberry, currants/cassis, and a little dark cherry. Really smooth with a beautiful purity and really nice depth/concentration. Nice vibrant flavors of dark berries, some spice/licorice, a little cocoa, and a mineral/graphite component. Fairly long finish but also a fairly prominent cassis profile on the back-end which could use some time to soften-up. Decanted for one hour and drank over a couple more. Improved a little with time but drinking well after the decant despite its youth. Enjoyable at this stage (96/97 for me) but I would give it another year or so to soften-up a little more. Again, a great vintage of this wine - no surprise of the 98 rating from WA and Dunnuck. WA anticipated maturity 2020 to 2050. 100% cab.

  • Only had 30 min a decant. Big and bold, dark fruit, licorice, cola, oak. Got better with time. Probably could have used a few hours of air, but still an amazing wine.

  • Opened by mi amigo, HowellMountainCru following the '13 Darioush. Very different of course. This has a whole different level of intensity. Loads of jammy over the top blueberry up front on the nose and in the mouth. Silky smooth and soft almost to the point of 'where's the acidity?' Seems very good but just a tad one dimensional at this point, but alas, I am splitting hairs here a bit. This has not yet closed down or 'backed up' as some '16s from Napa have. Will be interesting to see where this is in a year or two......

  • Fruit forward, totally integrated, amazingly soft but powerful wine. Just a different experience relative to a excellent 2013 Dariouch and good 2016 Schrader Double Diamond we drank next to it.

Soft floral purple flower and berry aroma. PNP - The taste was slightly jammy at first moving toward saturated blackberry and blueberry. Definite cocoa note as well. I can't overstate the softness and integration of this wine. It was soft in the mouth and had glide and finish that was just over the top.

An easy 96 for me and maybe a little a little higher.
