Drunk as part of a big Napa-focused wine tasting with friends. This definitely needs a bit more time, but I was surprised at how close it felt as well--6 hours of sitting open in the bottle definitely helped. This is complex wine with a lot going on under the hood. A little more of a tart, astringent (not in a bad way--think Italian agrodolce), drying wine than some of the other top-shelf bottles it went alongside. Plum, blackberry, tannic oak, leather. Everything around it pretty classic cabernet. I was really blown away by this wine. I wanted not to like it, since I'm not much of an A) Napa and B) cab person (and I certainly was not $400 blown away, but if we're being honest with ourselves, that's a pretty high bar), but this really won me over. Just hoping I can be there when a friend opens theres in a few years...

Color (15/15) Opaque purple with ruby edge around rim
Nose (21/20) The Petit Verdot & Cab Franc give a gorgeous floral bouquet that I absolutely loved...I know, not fair to give more points for the nose but it was really good.
Palate (28/30) Velvet smooth; plum and oaky black fruit flavors up front with a mildly astringent red cherry finish when first opened but deepens with air and time into a stereotypical Cabernet Sauvignon finish that lingers.
Overall Quality (34/35) This is a wonderful wine that I am guessing may get even a little better in the next year or two. It is so pleasant to drink on its own but would pair beautifully with bold, salty or savory foods.
