Wine remain very tight. Decanted for 7 hours prior to serving and completed the bottle on day two after an evening vacuum seal before opening the 2nd day. I was expecting this to be more approachable but it still needs time. It is lovely but just a bit tight still

Ok. There is a lot going on with this wine. It’s complex, layered and filled with a wonderful mix of dark fruit & tannins. Highly structured and can see this aging like a French BDX. QPR @ $275 is not great but it is a WA99 rated wine flirting with perfection. Given all the new style fruit forward/fruit bombs coming out of Napa this one is more restrained, complex but has all the stuffing. You will be rewarded to wait another 5-10 Years. At least I have one bottle remaining.

So not ready yet. This score will certainly increase with more time, but it’s not there yet. Did a double decant with the Menu Wine Breather, wasn’t enough, so then used aerator into glass, which did smooth it out pretty well. Dark fruit with a bite until we smoothed it out. Suggest super long decant or wait several years.

A healthy purple core, and seemed to fit right in the middle of the 2017 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon S.L.V. and the ‘15 Shafer Hillside Select, not just in terms of appearance, but in weight and style. Outgoing and complex bouquet, with notes of cassis, blackberry, blueberry; hints of tree bark, roasted fennel, crushed stone and earth. Medium to full bodied, with good balance and depth, ripe tannins, good delineation, good structure and grip; long, complex and savory finish. This was my favorite wine of the evening, and will no doubt evolve and improve over the next handful of years. Vinous Learn Stag’s Leap tasting with Antonio Galloni. I was surprised that Antonio found this a bit over extracted - I did not - and that he found the ‘15 HSS more approachable. Fascinating tasting!

unbelievably soft tannins--great long finish--mineral, earth, dark fruit.
