Taste Wines by the "Small Vineyards" Import Co. (San Diego Wine Co.): Typically, 80% Merlot and 10% ea C.S. & C.F. grown in ponca soils & planted @ 5,500-7,500 vines/ha; "Vinified 15 days with ambient temps, & frequent submersion of the skins, & open air repassings." Aged 36 mos in FR oak (1st, 2nd, & 3rd passage) & "cement casks," ff'd by 4 mos in bottle; ~ 13.5% ABV, 1.6 g/L R.S., & 5.6 g/L T.A.; ~ 300 cases
N: Very slightly closed; Creamy vanilla with notes of smoke atop berries; Intensity lurking
P: LM, poss Med, body; Lovely FRT met by an astringent pucker which never comes CLOSE to losing touch with the frt as it seamlessly transitions into a LONG, BALANCED, potentially elegant finish with an attractive tangy/swtness to the dusty tannins. NEEDS through '20, poss '21, then EASILY making its 10th... min. VERY impressive! My EXC, more with time? [This vendor's $27.99 is ~ $6 < wine-searcher's only current U.S. posting.]

Red fruits, bright acid. Better with food than stand alone. Paired well with dry aged tomahawk
