Plenty of vanilla on the nose with some blackberry and plum. Nearly complete tannic integration leaving a thick syrupy mouthfeel. Full bodied palate of typical dark fruit flavors, blackberry, currant. Medium length finish with a touch of heat. Throws a fair amount of sediment at the end. This doesn't appear to have been held too long, just not remarkable. I'm still wondering if there's value in any of the bottom end Penfolds.

Having recently tried the CabSauv/Shiraz blend ( Papies 88) this is o e step below in intensity and depth and albeit both are really entry level generic wines this was even shallower and just blends into the background. It’s not an offensive wine in any way just nothing to remember it by rather than the brand. As good as an 85-86 can get

Attention : I refer to the Koonunga Hill SHIRAZ CABERNET on which the bootle’s barcode lead to : As Stewartwent has mentionned, this is a Bordeaux styled wine, that is enjoyable now, but based on its tannins and fruit, it could easely hold 2 more years and will propably be best by then. Or is it already on a downhill route ? Very difficult to judge at the moment ... but after decanting, I believe it will keep at least to 2023 +. Not a great wine, but solid stuff to pair with dark meats.

Pretty good really. Quite commercial with plush fruits early but a serious BDX-esque back end and tannin was not expected. Easy going and not easy going.

Spice, blackcurrents, vanilla. Smooth tannins and supple fruit. Ready and good value for price.
