  • Contrary to the last opening of this wine, this particular bottle delivered. Yellow straw gold, almost honey gold, in the glass with an intensity that captivates the eye. Apricot, gooseberry, lymon and anise on the nose that then pours over and across the palate. The heft of the wine’s body rolled like mercury, but make no mistake, there’s no baby fat here; just full throttle enjoyment. Despite the weight and intense color of the wine, there is nuance here between the nose and palate. Anise and wet stone create a lingering finish. 13% alc. With shrimp tacos. 07.06.23. Recommended.

  • I’m not certain what happened here – wine too cold? (yes), lost in conversation? (unlikely), poor pairing? (perhaps), all of the above? – but the wine didn’t excite. Having enjoyed this wine quite a lot previously, I don’t know why this bottle did not deliver an equal amount of pleasure. Failing to set the wine out of the ‘frig early enough to allow it to come back to serving temp was indeed part of the issue. But even as the wine warmed in the glass, it just did not excite. Others at the table notice it as well and were much more taken with the Baudry Chinon Blanc Croix Boissée than with this wine. Nothing was off – not corked, not oxidized – it just rather did not deliver. It could be that the spice on the shrimp muted the wine, but given how mild the spice was, that seems unlikely but possible. “11-14”% alc. With Creole shrimp and creamed corn. 07.22.22. Recommended with Reservations.

  • I get aromas of gooseberries here along with bee wax, herbs and freshly cut grass. The palate is very focused and clean yet has maybe just a touch of oak I guess rounding the edges. It's really long as well finishing on a citrus note. A very pure, precise and finely balanced Sancerre; this is the opposite of loud, showing beauty in detail. Definite rebuy for me. 17/20.

  • Light gold color. Very ripe citrus, pineapple, floral, mineral. Slight wax note on the nose, no waxiness in texture. Balanced acidity. Steely mouthfeel. Above all what sets this wine is apart is a remarkable precision. So clean on the palate. Ripe but still delicate. Excellent balance between fruit, acidity and minerality. Great wine to enjoy now or within a couple of years.
