I’d previously enjoyed the 2004 vintage CdP of this wine, and was less than impressed. If I had to describe this wine in less than 25 words: “mature aromas and flavors of very old furniture (old leather, and old varnished wood), high alcohol, powdered cocoa, barnyard floor, and outdated cherry cough syrup”…e’nuff said! Drink ASAP, mature, but fading, probably 3-4 years beyond peak.

Leather, driftwood, dried blueberries, subtle mint, some cinnamon with air. Successfully avoided the raisiny note in my bottle of the '04. Impeccably smooth and urbane but not my preferred style, others might rate this higher. With air this started to fill out. Even so, the fruit was very subtle and there were substantial sherry notes. Very edifying but I think I prefer my Rhones 4-10 years old.

Lovely old wine. Delicate but still better on night two after a pump.

Very enjoyable with noticeable complexity. However, clearly on the other side of peak and would plan to drink before year end.

Interesting and pretty good with food. Not great on its own though
