Nose: perfumed ripe dark fruits, oak, spices (pepper, eucalyptus!), some alcohol. Mouth: dark ripe fruits, warm climat, good acidity but unpleasant tannic (green - somewhat chemical) finish with sweet dark fruits. Medium body, medium finish - but due to the tannins out of balance. Good QPR but not a rebuy for me. Somewhat disappointed since I've had "the dead arm 2013" and "the galvo garage 2004" which were stunning - 87 pt.

{screwcap, 14.5%} Deep inky purple; almost fearfully youthful with blackcurrant & liquorice aromas, a dark menthol character and a lick of black olive - all of which appear on the medium/full-bodied palate, with its medium/high grainy, seemingly-skin-derived tannins, and low/medium acid. Something of a powerhouse which in some vintages veers on greenness. Here there's a mass of fruit and weight, but being so far down the label pecking order I can't help but feel that ultimately there's a certain hollowness at the core of this. May also explain the minimal oak influence (which I think really does help cabernet). A few years to settle down will help, but I doubt it's worth more than 8-years post-vintage.

Quick purchase for the night at Watson's in TST. Very primary and red/blue berried in the nose, quite a bit of EtOH, no real oak signature. In the mouth tannic and peppery. Clearly too young now.

Concentrated blackberry, black currant. Cedar, touch of Dutch liquorice. Cigar box. Rich, almost syrupy. A mouthful of thick, silty tannin, with air more velvet. Fresh acidity balances it up pretty well. Plenty of length. Wouldn’t be surprised if this shows better in a couple of years when it has calmed down a bit more.
