  • Not a bad wine. Initial thought: brunello di montalcino? Clear signs of maturity, brownish border. Palate: plenty of coffee/espresso, ripe strawberries, black cherries, leather, slightly too much acidity and tannins (or alcohol?), some Mediterranean herbs (thyme?). Decent mouth and finish, but somehow not perfectly balanced for me. Not sure if this is supposed to be an elegant or a big wine. Do one want another bottle?

  • From volcanic clay soil in Ribbon Ridge AVA, Willamette Valley. Tasted blind and no one in our group guessed Pinot Noir – Sweet raspberries, smokey oak spices and some wholecluster? Dusty tannins smell. Lightish bodied but tannins are not necessarily refined. Mild tobacco note. South African Grenache? (77/100)
