Very mature nose of apple, hay, crushed shells. The palate is brightly acidic, no fruit on the mid-palate, waxy finish. Medium length. While not oxidized, this has seen better days (or is possibly in a weird, Chenin dumb phase). Drink up.

Pale yellow color. Aromas of acacia, honey, kumquat and a hint of lanolin. Palate is fresh with lime, a hint of wool, mineral, and some honeycomb notes. Finish is medium. Wonderful expression of aged chenin blanc. Drink.

Txrhoneranger note sums it up well. I am a huge fan of this wine and have opened a bottle of it every few months as I have several cases. It has been glorious over the years but sadly is now past its prime. It does show mature Chenin characteristics and pleasure at near room temperature... with more chill it tastes out of balance and decidedly sour.

Drink up. This is typical but not special for Savennieres in my opinion. This should have been better. Oxidized melon, honey, corn and pineapple. Even at year 20, I expected this to have more gas in the tank. Drinkable yes, but not flashy any more.

(Domaine des Baumard Savennières Clos du Papillon) Light golden yellow color; hazelnut, green, almond, cream and oats nose, that eventually adds raspberry; tasty, nutty, creamy textured, hazelnut and mineral nose; medium-plus finish

Sjaak's 40th birthday dinner (Groot-Ammers, Netherlands): Fresh and youthful, lifted nose, flowers and flower honey, crisp acidity balanced by gentle sweetness, mild bitters, slightly light finish.
