Sutil salinidad.

Oh, wow, what a wine. I'm convinced the previous taster had a poorly stored bottle, because this wine is as alive and taut as can be, and will likely stay at this plateau for another ten years. Classic, maritime-inflected Bairrada nose of iodine, wax, gooseberry and white plum, and a bit of salty caramel. So complex; opens into white flowers, maybe even white tea, and pulverized oyster shells. The palate follows the nose, and has a tart limestone-y character with a bit of the classic waxiness of Bical. Only 12% ABV; the Bical and Cerceal were likely harvested at 11% ABV whereas the Maria Gomes was probably 12.5%. These wines are amazing, and sorely undervalued--as are most of the finest, tiny production wines of Portugal. This spent a year in oak, and was then bottle-aged at the winery.

Dark bronze color. Very old and dusty aromas. But still alive, barely. More interresting than good.

Golden color, some sediments.
Not much primary fruit left. Honey, nuts, nail polish/acetone.
Light, low acidity, abit short.
Deliciously mature.
