  • Friday Group Brown Bag Tasting (R&R's): Double blind. Inky opaque color. Aromas of licorice, cassis, chocolate, cherry cordial and blackberry. Full-bodied, with firm tannins and flavors of blackberry, kirsch and licorice and a lot of alcoholic heat. Guessed petite. I might give this a couple of years and see if the fruit can tame the heat. 89-90 pts. (R&D)

  • Before writing this note I re-read my last note on this wine from about a year ago and note slow ongoing evolution and improvement but no revolution. Really an excellent wine if you like dark, intense and big wines but not nearly as fruit forward now - fruit integrating and wine starting to soften. Completely in a mature drinking window now, will benefit from 1-2 hours of decanting but drinking well enough with out it and can easily be aerated in the glass for a bit. Drink or hold but leaning on the hold, absolutely no hurry - this will improve with additional bottle age and and this has an easy decade+ to go. Intense dark purple color, good mouth feel, smooth, starting to soften and balance and has a lovely long lingering aftertaste. Nose of dark stone fruit and coffee with a violatious floral note on the finish. On the flavor profile oak, dark stone fruit and a hint of sweet vanilla up front with garrigue, lead pencil and leather on the finish. Highly recommend and becoming quite a good QPR wine at the average CT price.

  • Really an excellent wine if you like dark, intense, big and fruit forward wines. Entering a mature drinking window, should still improve some with additional bottle age and and this has a decade+ to go. Decanted for 2 hours and at this point this wine still really needs the decant to round out and soften up a bit. Intense dark purple color, good mouth feel and quite smooth for a relatively young 16.5% ABV wine - not a "hot" wine at all. Medium - long lingering aftertaste. Nose of dark fruit and violets, oak definitely present, tannins definitely present but balanced and palate of dark fruit, garrigue, lead pencil and a surprising lighter more floral note. Highly recommend and not a bad QPR at all at the average CT price.

  • A really nice bottle of wine. Opened two hours before dinner and then slowly consumed over the next three hours. Dark fruit on the nose. The palate is dark berries, dark plums and spices. The finish is moderate to long.

  • Decanted 1/2 hr. Drank over 2 days. Subtle dark fruit nose. Consistent tastes of deep, dark fruits. Day 2 was as good as day 1.
