  • This was a wine I got as a gift a few months ago and given the vintage, I didn't want to leave it laying too long. I tasted this after it was opened for a few hours at slightly less than room temperature.
In appearance, the wine was clear, and a deep, opaque ruby. There wasn't really much garnet here, which was a surprise. It also showed thin, long legs.
The Nose here was clean and developing with pronounced aromas of toasted cedar, dark berries like blackberry and black cherry, and a touch of menthol at the back.
The Palate on the wine was very dry, with medium+ acidity and medium+ tannins and medium+ body. This is a fairly big wine that also included medium plus alcohol, but it is all very well integrated. The wine is holding together very well over the years. The fruit profile is medium+ in intensity and shows flavors of dark fruits like black cherry, plum, and dried berries, with notes of smoke, vanilla, and sweet spices like nutmeg on what was a medium+ length finish.
Overall, I was very impressed with this wine. I half expected it to be a bit tired, but it was not. Instead, it was still quite lively and showed a lot of structure that could age for another decade or so. A very good wine and well worth the price.

  • OK - I gave it a couple of more years to mature. It didn't.
Intereting undertones of wood, vine and leaves; tannic; very dry. I'll pass.

  • Very nice nose of dark fruits, mocha and graphite. Nice velvety mouthfeel with a medium finish and nice balance. Bought this for half price. Well worth it.

  • Very nice, elegant Malbec. Much less rough than many of its brethren, with a nice balance and classic Malbec flavors. Nothing spectacular, but a fantastic example of the varietal. Would definitely buy again!

  • A superior malbec. Vibrant color. Cassis, dark fruit, leather, and smoke on the nose. Medium body with softening tannins. Cedar, pasture, herbs, lavender, dark fruit on the palate, with strong oak. Solid, leisurely finish reminiscent of cabernet.
