Lots of pure bright cherry, licorice, sandalwood, rose powder. Well structured for a Langhe level wine, clean and pure. This is a great Langhe, I’m glad I bought all the 2016 Baroli I could afford but I wish I’d bought more of the cheaper wines from the vintage because the difference between these and the ‘17s or ‘18s is dramatic. The qpr on the ‘16 langhe and Alba wines from good producers is ridiculous and this is up there with the best I’ve had.
Drinking great now, might still improve modestly for another year or two or might not, but should have a few more years of peak drinking. 7-7.5/10

Not my cup of tea to be honest, typical old school Nebbiolo and in the same league as old school Riojas, if you like leather and tannins fine but not for me. Very dark colour no fading on rim, little if any fruit coming on the nose and all tannins and leather in the mouth, rarely for me over two days I did not finish this wine, usual disclaimers will say otherwise and that is their prerogative.

Batting out of its price point for a Nebbiolo, yes. But nothing particularly interesting here. To be honest, I had the 2016 rosso some time ago and was more impressed with that (again, for QPR). Don’t think it’s a bottle age issue - this didn’t seem as if it would improve much. Might buy again for the right price, might not.

Light, fresh, dark cherry. What's not to like? Not profound or amazing, but very satisfying.
