  • Fragrant nose with black cherries, red fruit, an herbal note, spices, and cedar. Nice acidity with tart red fruit notes, cherries, and underwood on the palate. Good finish. This wine was surprisingly dark in color and flavor profile and seems to have been made in a slightly different style from today's Foillard wines, but by no means is it any less enjoyable.

  • High fill, perfect cork. Dense red and dark fruit, somewhat developed. No signs of fruit fading. A little bit of forest floor. Was expecting it to be a lot mor developed, presumably this bottle had a long way to go. I wish I had another...

  • sampled this just after finishing a bottle of 2014 3.14. i felt this 2005 cote du py stood up well against the arguably peak 3.14. cloudy and a bit orange in tone both wines had many of the same notes. floral but with a pleasant funk. very pleasantly surprised.

  • Closed up to begin with, but then, cranberry fruit, pomegranate, orange peel. High acidity, vibrant fruit on the palate, just waking up. Herbal, green notes, marked tannins. Incredible wine, really. Great complexity too. Wow. Many years left here.

  • Late night CNY drinks at Maison Dakota. From magnum. Drank in Conterno Sensory.
Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour with garnet rim. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of earthen funk, spice, animal, leather. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (13%), medium tannins, medium body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of juicy dark red cherries, dark red plums, dark spice, animal, leather. Medium+ finish getting longer with more air.
Very good quality. Still more development ahead for this format.
