Anther killer bottle. Lovely depth on the nose: black and red currants and cherries, lots of roasted herbs, coffee. Structured well but a plush feel, with crisp acidity, the balance is lovely. Tart red and bllack cherries and currants laced with charcoal, anise, pepper, coffee, some olives and leather. Tangy, deep, age-worthy, done so well. This has a long life ahead of it.

Virginia Governor's Cup Wines: Light purple color. Rich aromas, mixing black and red currants and cherries, with roasted coffee, sage, tobacco, grilled herbs – lots of complexity in here. Structured tannins on the palate with crisp, lip-smacking acidity, balanced so well with tart red and black currants and plums. Notes of smoky charcoal, anise, black pepper, some olive and leather. Such an impressive Virginia Cab Franc from an excellent producer, this could be cellared for at least a few years, but accessible now. Includes 7% Cabernet and 2% Petit Verdot.
