Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • By négociant-eleveur Maire & Fils, Beaune.
Quite a good fill level and a solid cork. Unfortunately this bottle was way past its prime.
Amber red at the core, orange and brown at the rim. Very transparent.
The nose is definitely the best part of the wine with still some sweet cherry fruit, accompanied by incense, old furniture, resin and leather.
In the mouth is almost dead, hollow, slightly sour and stripped of any pleasant flavours, the remnant being old wood and a strong and off-putting ferrous note. We did not finish our glasses. If the nose is any indication, this may have been a good wine in the noughties.
