part of the old cellar finds........ upon opening fowl, but after two hours it really opened up and you could taste red berry (tart), surprisingly drinkable. Flavor faded quickly. Way past prime. sorry I missed opening this sooner (like 10 yrs ago)

The wine looks inky colored. The legs are medium. There is moderate sediment in the bottle. It smells like black currant (cassis) and prune. It tastes like light toast and oak. The body is medium. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Allowed to breathe in glass for one hour. Clear deep garnet-blood-brick red color. Initial off notes of soiled kitty litter blew off to reveal a mellow old bouquet of faded dried red cherries, leather, cedar, stony red soil, baking spices, hints of balsamic, soy sauce and meat juice. Similar on the palate, medium-fully body, nice balance, pleasant acidity and tannins, good with spaghetti alla bolognese.

This is my favorite Chianti. Although they should be drunk before they get this old, this bottle was great. The fruit was still forward and the tannins were very mellow. I shared it with friends that "don't drink red wine" and they loved it.
