  • Brought this to celebrate a mate's birthday at Jin Long Seafood Restaurant tonight.

Dark purple in colour. Rustic with charming notes of capsicum, blue berries and leather. The opening up of the wine was slow and painful, despite being in a decanter for 45 minutes. Tight on the palate with minimal extraction.

Will visit this wine in a few years time.. Alternatively, give it a couple of hours in the decanter..

  • Mainly Cabernet Sauvignon with some Syrah and Carménère blended in. 13,5% alcohol, 1 g/l residual sugar, 5 g/l acidity. Tasted blind in VV.

Youthful and somewhat translucent cherry red color with a hint of purple hue. The nose is very sweet-toned and ripe, almost jammy, with rich aromas of raspberry jam, vanillin, some overripe strawberry tones, a little bit of créme de cassis and a hint of chocolate. Feels more like mulled wine than red wine. The wine is moderately full-bodied, ripe and slightly warm on the palate with rich flavors of raspberry jam, sweet blackberries, some vanilla, a little bit of overripe blackcurrants and a hint of succulent plummy fruit. The structure feels pretty soft with the modest-to-medium acidity and quite mellow medium tannins that contribute more to the texture than to the structure. The finish is quite short, sweet-toned and ever-so-slightly grippy with rich flavors of raspberry jam, overripe blackcurrants, some strawberries and a little bit of vanilla.

Meh. A very boring and predictable new world Cabernet with nothing that would make it stand apart from the competition. Jammy and vanilla-heavy with very little in the way of structure. Not particularly enjoyable now and won't get any better from here. Waste of money at 10,42€.
