  • Not the greatest value wine but it is still enjoyable and at the price do not regret buying it. Upon opening at 8c it has delicate white fruit on the nose and a little more defined/obvious in the mouth enough acidity to last a a few more years but I would suggest drinking rather than storing for much longer. Went really well with a simple fish stock risotto .
Maybe I am being a little harsh on my score, maybe not.

  • Upon opening at 8c it was very green and not much else quite unlike anything I would expect from the Rheingau.
As it got warmer it really changed and whilst nothing special much more of the Rheigau. Smoother rounder & hints of fruit

  • Have not tried Schloss Vollrads for a long time, the quality has been mediocre at best for several years, this bottle is a gift, so pnp, intense nose of citrus, stonefruit and herbs, on the palate midbodied and surprisingly deep, showing a young yellow fruit driven wine, good harmony, mineralic hints, ending saline long with a convincing supporting acidity, with some aeration enjoy from now on and over the next 5+ years, **-(***-?), 87- 89+?
