A post Holiday dinner with coworkers (nyc): Apon pouring there was a note of sour maderization with very strong notes of porcini, light hints of soy and lilac. This really went through an evolution as the nose added tar, sand, light strawberry jam notes, then turned more autumnal adding damp cigar, cigarette smoke, boullion cube and coal to sweetening, candied raspberry fruit. Opens with real upfront bottle sweetness but not alot of fruit, instead alot of bleached bones and boiled pig skin, a hint of caramel, still some stiff tannins with a drying, clipped finish. With time this comes together nicely with integrated acidity, good medium deoth of savory fruit, solid tannins. Certainly austere with fading red fruits and spicy minerality dominating the palate. Lacks some finesse and depth. This seems to be a less than perfect bottle.

SOBER (fka TWITS) Tasting (My place): Nose of soy and cedar. elegant cherry and roses, very nice minerality. A beautiful wine, but not as wonderful as the other bottle of this I've had.

Barolo Bash (I Trulli, NYC): Beautiful smooth nose. Dense, with nice stuffing. (I thought dense in a good way, not everyone agreed) Great strawberry and sour cherry fruit and wonderful acids. Perfectly balanced and in harmony. Just singing tonight. My WOTF.

Soy and autumnal the nose. Dark tar and porcinis. A little F Rinaldi dirty barrel feel to it.
