I was hoping for something jammier to go with my smokehouse pork char siu (Project Smoke). My mistake, I probably should have tried something new world. Muted fruit, medium body, decent length. Wish I'd opened it earlier. There's nothing noteworthy here.

Very nice wine, certainly the right quality for the price. It needs to breathe for a good hour or more to really open up. It has all the Cotes du Rhone tastes and scents that I expected, but perhaps in a bit more muted and smooth fashion. The wine has a pleasing medium body with perhaps less fire than other Cotes du Rhone I've had recently.
This is a good food wine for when you want the flavors and scent of a Cotes du Rhone, but don't want it to come on too strong - to stay in the background a bit more. This wine is more of the strong silent type.

Garnet color with clear rim. Medium viscosity and likely medium alcohol. Aromatic wine with ripe strawberries, raspberries, pomegranate with some wild flowers and spices - pepper, cinnamon. Likely from the fruits, whole cluster vs oak. Hint of earth.. Confirmed them on the palate. Dry wine, medium acidity that stays through the long finish, Medium tannins, alcohol and body. Maybe medium plus on body. This was a lean wine, didn’t feel roundness around the mouth. Super linear. Decanted for 1.5 hrs and flowers on the nose added a nice touch. This was a Grenache and Syrah blend which explains all the flower aromatic action and spices combo. Great for the price (under $25)
