Popped and poured at fridge temp. Lots of things going on here, honey, cloudberry, burnt sugar, calvados, dark sweet things. Also on the palate, excellent acidity, not super sweet, but perfect with a sweet dessert.

Date night @ Cloudstreet: Sherried, dried yellow raisins, burnt caramel, ripe stone fruits, figs, botrytis, with a warm gingerly finish. Intense, complex and great way to end off a great dinner.

CL's Birthday celebration at Regent. Pop and poured. 500ml bottle. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, amber colour. Legs. Nose pronounced intensity, with aromas of caramel, honey, marmalade, raisins, dried orange peel, gingery spice botrytis. Developed. On the palate, sweet, high acidity, low alcohol (11.5%), full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of nutty caramel, honey, marmalade, dried orange peel, raisins, Japanese pickled plum, Yomeishu, gingery botrytis spice. Long finish. Very good quality. Tokaji can live forever, but why wait when this is already so complex. This really hits the "sweet spot". Not overly luscious, with great balancing acidity. You know it when you keep wanting to imbibe more of it.

At seventeen years old, this wine has become an amber colour with medium depth. The odour is massive: notes of apricot, mandarin, cooked apple, beeswax, orange peel, honey, caramel, almonds, ripe banana, and figs. There are some notes that suggest this wine is developed and perhaps slightly past its best: oxidative flavours like walnuts and raisins. It is still full-bodied, with med+ acidity, high flavour intensity and high sweetness. The finish lasts a long time: still fantastic, but don't keep it for another decade.

Wine Dinner to Start the School Year - 90 Dom, 87 DRC, 78 Margaux, 04 Kapscandy ...: This was the finisher of the evening. It was brought by Dan who received it as a gift from Lou K. The wine had a rich golden color that was very inviting. Flavors of roasted pineapple, orange peel and a delicious honeycomb were woven in a great medium bodied mouthfeel. The wine was young but extremely sophisticated. I would search this out.
