  • same as the last 2 posted notes below. Interesting wine overall. I like the funkiness of it all.

This is actually classified as an orange wine by reason of how it is made. Made up of 50% Riesling and 50% Viognier from Niagara. Unique blend. But it works. A five week period of grape skin contact (usually for white wines, grapes are crushed and have limited skin contact), then pressed and racked straight away and aged in qvevri (used way back when in Georgia/Greece/etc. to make wine).

    14% alc.
Only 200 cases made. Sold out within weeks. As with many Canadian wineries, they are smaller operations, with smaller quantities produced so it is important to be quick and jump on whatever you want.

What a unique style of wine. Served with a bit of a chill. Colour ..... well, basically it is a dullish orange colour. A bit muddled or cloudy in appearance. This is not a pristine clear looking wine. Aromas are hard to identify but I do get a bit of oranges coming through.
Flavours tend to the orchard fruits like oranges/limes/lemons/ripe peaches, and drying earl grey tea with a nice touch of tanginess to finish. Also get a creamy lemon curd. The finish brings on the earl grey tea dryness (with a nice slight bitterness), a slightly grainy chalkiness and lime curds with a dash of honey on the finish. Overall, a nice medium bodied wine. Some waxiness and earthiness show in the overall body.
Nothing really dominates, just nice and smooth and well balanced.
.... got better as it warmed up a bit to room temp. Not sure how this will age.
