It was a bit sharp/tight at opening but opened up and softened after a one hour decant. It had subtle spices, plum flavors, and tobacco notes. Very nice and even. Went very well with grilled Copper River Sockeye. Delicious!

Four years ago these were medium bodied and comparable to heavier new world pinots, but with bottle age they've become fuller bodied and are more comparable in sweetness and spice to zinfandel. Not a mate for pasta, in other words, but perfect for barbecue and some stews. Sorry it's not grown and bottled as a stand-alone variety in Washington state--there's a place for this.

The wine's put on some weight since our last bottle a year ago--less acidity and spice, more saturated/extracted fruit flavor--and this isn't an improvement. Alcohol's only 14.1% but it's out in the open now. Will hide the car keys and hold, not drink, remaining bottles in hopes that this is just a teenage tantrum.
Was so enamored with the six purchased last summer we blew thru them rather quickly (you know, that wine you have to show all your friends?) and bought six more when we visited the winery in April. Chose it to pair with stuffed pork chops last night. Shows more blue fruit now with some blueberries in the mix but the beguiling sweet spice and dusty tannins are as hypnotic as ever. Tamarack wines age well; bet these will hold in a cool cellar thru 2025.

Ok with pasta. Much better without. Softened after it was open.
