  • 13% alcohol.

Dull, muddled nose with very understated fruit character and slightly stuffy overall feel. Doesn't exhibit any overt TCA notes, but doesn't feel right either. Most likely this was a subtly corked bottle, just enough to kill the fruit but not render the wine unpleasant.

Very pale, luminous pomegranate red color. Ripe, sweet and fresh nose of cranberries, some meaty Pinosity, a little bit of dark cherry, a hint of peppery spice and light earthy tones. The wine is dry, clean and fresh on the palate with quite light body and crunchy flavors of cranberries, sour cherries, some earthy Pinosity, a little bit of meaty character, a tangy hint of lingonberry jam and a touch of peppery spice. The wine is moderately high in acidity with no tannins to speak of. The finish is rich, crisp and lively with firm and rather tart flavors of red forest fruits, earthy Pinosity, some meaty bacon notes, a little bit of sour cherry bitterness and a spicy touch of ground black pepper.

A light and positively simple Pinot Noir with terrific freshness, balance and great drinkability. Somehow it reminded me of a cool-climate Syrah with its meaty and slightly peppery tones, but its quite obvious Pinosity made sure that this is still first and foremost a classic Spätburgunder. Wonderful clarity and made in a very sophisticated, transparent style. Nothing too serious or too complex, this is just an enormously enjoyable, light and fun little everyday red for lighter weekday meals or for easy-drinking purposes without any accompanying food. Nice!
