lovely ruby colour with medium body in the glass; some blue and black fruit aromas mingle with spice notes in a decidedly earthy nose. its soft and silky in the mouth and grows broader and more concentrated in the mid-palate with pomegranate and rhubarb top notes lightening the tertiary and mineral flavours. good persistence with spicy accents.
fully mature and enjoyable; not sure how long it will stay at this plateau.
13% AbV; estate fruit from the Drum Canyon vineyard (which i understand is being replanted; no stem inclusion but 100% new oak ageing.

Beautiful ruby red color to the edge. Nice berry nose with a bit of earth and mushroom. Medium body, good balance, red fruit on the palate with good structure, the finish lingers on the back of the tongue. Served with carrot soup and mushroom toast, it was delightful.

Up the PCH; 6/4/2019-6/16/2019 (Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, Paso Robles, Napa, and Willamette): Had side by side with the Santa Maria Valley Dierberg, which I enjoyed better. Both had a nice mouthfeel, earthiness, but the SMV had a bit more complexity that I enjoyed more.
