  • A blend of Bobal (78%), Syrah (12%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (10%). Macerated with the skins for 21 to 30 days, depending on the variety. Aged in concrete tanks.

Very lightly translucent, dark, almost black cherry color. Very powerful and bold nose with pronounced licorice, ripe dark fruits, some sweet anise, a little bit of earthy character and a hint of alcohol. The wine is ripe, full-bodied and quite spicy on the palate with rich flavors of dark plums, licorice, black cherries, some roasted Moroccan spices, a little bit of earthy character and a hint of crunchy dark berries. The acidity feels medium-to-moderate and the tannins are moderately firm and somewhat grippy. The alcohol lends a warming touch to the palate. The finish is ripe and quite bitter with long flavors of crunchy dark berries, tannic grip, bitter spices, some sweet blackberry jam and a hint of dusty earth.

A very nice, interesting and balanced Bobal, which is nice change - usually Bobals just tend to be rather dilute and underwhelming, or the just overtly simple. This, in turn, is neither. Good balance, nice emphasis on the ripe and sufficiently concentrated Bobal fruit and there's also a balancing touch of tannic grip, so that the wine doesn't come across as structureless. Probably the best Bobal I've had to this date.
