Italian Wine Scholar Class @ The Texas Wine School. 100% Pignolo from the Rosazzo area. Deep ruby w/ a garnet rim. Unfiltered. Desperately needs a decant. Med+ aromas of plum sauce, overripe blueberries, eucalyptus, mint, earth, gingerbread and sweet baking spices. 20 mos in large French oak barrels and tonneaux. Dry, somewhat austere on the palate, with med to med+ acidity, pronounced tannins and high (14.5%) alcohol. Full-bodied, w/ med+ to pronounced flavor intensity. Unfortunately, it falls a little short on the tobacco leaf and steeped tea finish, the fruit having faded faster than the tannins.
