Didn't have huge expectations for this one, but it ended up showing very, very well. Indeed, I had a preconceived notion that the wine would be a bit hot and ripe. Wrong. Still youthful, still showing lots of bright red fruit with just hints of darker fruit undertones, along with an underlying earthy mushroom/truffle note. Silky smooth. Just beautiful--table WOTN, though for me it's a tie with the Chrisophe Baron Champagne.

Christmas Eve Wine Night in the East!: See previous notes - this is holding up well with no vegetal notes tonight, but I would suggest drinking sooner rather than later.

Nose of red currants, violets, with barnyard funk tertiaries. Tasted red fruits, jam, black fruits, wet stones with a tinge of vegetal on the finish which bothered me. Not bad but likely off it’s prime. Open now

Came across very light and seemingly on the downside for the first hour or so, but it gained weight in the following couple of hours turning into a fairly fine version of a mature right bank wine. Showed mostly red currant and some graphite, but with just some fine integrated tannins, it mostly just seemed like a soft delicious merlot, not super complex, but a nice showing in a down vintage which was the rep I got for this producer. Consistent with last bottle notes from about 6 months ago.

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with nice complexity.
Showing currents, plums, cherries, oak, wet leaves, herbs, black pepper, tobacco leaf, earth, dark coffee and black tea.
Short finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 26 year old Merlot is still drinking very nicely. Showing a nice mouthfeel with nice complexity.
Will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 7 years, but will not improve from here on.
Needs an hour to open up properly, so be patient.
This was not a good vintage in Pomerol, but it held up pretty well.
Good by itself or with food.
A blend of mostly Merlot with Cabernet Franc. Aged in French oak barrels for 18 months.
12.5% alcohol by volume.
91 points.
$250.
